TownePlace Suites by Marriott Macon Mercer University generally receives positive feedback, particularly regarding cleanliness, friendly staff, and a convenient location near Mercer University and I-75. However, recent reviews highlight concerns about security incidents and inconsistent customer service. The hotel is well-maintained and offers a range of amenities, but certain experiences have been marred by unexpected issues.
Pleasant front desk. Room small but nice. Full frig, cook top, sink. Great closet. TV is wall mounted so that it needs positioning to watch from bed OR couch. Quiet except we were end room next to a staff area (maybe laundry?) and we got a bit of noise into the evening. Breakfast typical free hotel and completely adequate. Loved the peach compote. One tip: Using the fold out sleeper sofa would make for a very tight space.
The first associate of Marriott we met with Christian at the front counter. He greeted us very pleasantly and very professionally asking what he can do to possibly help us. We told him we were there to check in and he asked for identification. As our conversation with him grew we felt that we were in the presence of a young man that was very intelligent young man who has a huge empathetic spirit for people and he's ready to provide a service in order to help in any way possible ensuring his guest has a quality fantastic stay! Thank you Christian. We were quite impressed. We absolutely had a great conversation with Christian. I feel he's a huge asset for Marriott and I hope his future with Marriott grows and producers a very productive career. Charlie
????? Outstanding Service & Family-Friendly Experience We had a fantastic stay at SpringHill Suites in Macon, Georgia, and I want to specifically recognize Christian, who assisted us during check-in. From the moment we arrived, Christian provided outstanding customer service. He took the time to understand our situation — traveling with two young kids and a dog — and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. He was able to place us in a two-bedroom suite and thoughtfully arranged for us to be on the first floor, which made things incredibly convenient for our family. His professionalism, attention to detail, and genuine care did not go unnoticed. It’s rare to find someone who is not only efficient, but also truly considerate and welcoming. Christian made our stay easier, more comfortable, and set the tone for a great experience at this hotel. If you’re staying here, you’re in great hands. Excellent service like this deserves to be recognized. We will absolutely stay here again and highly recommend this location to families and travelers with pets.
I had a mixed experience during my stay at TownePlace Suites Mercer University. On the positive side, the hotel was clean, and the majority of the staff were friendly, which made the initial impression pleasant. However, my stay took a turn for the worse when my rental car window, along with five other vehicles in the parking lot, was smashed at 3 a.m. This incident was incredibly disruptive, as I spent the entire day securing a new rental car. Upon returning to the hotel, I requested to check out early without being charged for the day due to the incident. While one staff member at the front desk was exceptionally kind and empathetic, the younger staff member, who I assume was the manager, denied my request, citing that it was late in the day and the hotel was sold out. While I understand the policy, the lack of flexibility given the circumstances was frustrating and felt dismissive. To make matters worse, I later learned from locals that vehicle break-ins occur at this property roughly once a month. This is unacceptable for a Marriott-branded hotel. The management needs to take proactive measures, such as hiring a security guard or improving parking lot surveillance, to ensure guest safety and protect their property. The frequency of these incidents is alarming and completely undermines the trust guests place in the brand. Due to this experience, I will not be returning to this location. While the cleanliness and some of the staff were highlights, the lack of security and poor handling of the situation make it impossible to recommend this hotel. Marriott should address these issues to uphold their reputation.
Excellent hotel. Very clean, friendly and helpful staff, especially Carlos. He is great, personbable, attentive, and informative!!! The hotel room was well appointed, beds and pillows were comfortable. The location is in a square with good restaurants and near Mercer University. I highly recommend staying here.
The rooms appear clean at first glance, but please do a thorough inspection of your linen, as our room had dirty sheets. The agent on the night staff was super helpful and provided clean linen. When I spoke to the GM and Front Desk Lead the next morning and explained what happened they could care less that we had to put on clean linen. No apologies at all, just blank stares. Don't expect much in terms of customer service from management at this location.
Refurbished in 2024. Fresh, clean, nice. Friendly, helpful staff. In a nice part of Macon, right off the expressway, across the street from Mercer University (a plus). Nice restaurants share the same parking lot. Walk to dinner. Definitely recommend.
The location is wonderful if you are going to a game or other event on campus. Otherwise there isn't much there and the restaurants in the parking lot leave a lot to be desired. There is a lot of free parking and it does feel safe. The fire pit out front is wonderful and lit every evening (once they forgot but were happy to turn it on when asked). Our one bedroom suite was large with a huge area for a table, but no table! After some polite pushing (our reservation indicated we would have a dining table) a folding banquet table and two chairs were brought in. The layout of the room was rather awkward with the closet doors and drawers hitting the bed when opened, the fridge door opening such that you had to squeeze between the door and wall to get things out of the fridge, etc. Housekeeping did a good job and the lobby was kept spotless as well. There are a variety of things you can borrow like BBQ tools, blender, crockpot, etc which is a really nice touch.
Great hotel conveniently located right off I-75 Room was clean and bed was comfy. The towels were super soft. Breakfast offered a variety of items including hot and cold foods. The hot food was hot. The young lady working the breakfast was sweet and friendly.
Very clean and quiet room with comfortable beds. We were traveling with our dog. $100 pet fee. Room #201 (2 queen beds) conveniently located next to the stairs. I would definitely stay here again!!!
