Holiday Inn Macon North, an IHG Hotel offers a refined retreat marked by contemporary style and a composed, welcoming atmosphere. Clean architectural lines and thoughtfully balanced design create an environment that feels both polished and inviting. The property’s understated elegance provides a calm, elevated backdrop for every stay. It is an excellent choice for travelers who appreciate modern sophistication paired with effortless comfort.
The Holiday Inn Macon North consistently receives mixed reviews, highlighting both positive aspects like a convenient location and comfortable beds, alongside significant concerns regarding cleanliness, staff training, and unresolved maintenance issues. Recent experiences detail issues from discriminatory service to room quality, operational disruptions, and a lack of transparent communication about hotel amenities.
I didn’t stay because I have A Service Dog and the man named Adrian asked me twice what service she provides and o told him twice that she is my medical alert dog and alerts me and others while I am having problems that could turn deadly and then he told me that the ADA doesn’t recognized medical alert dogs and told me he picks not give me a room ! TOTAL DISCRIMINATION!! I Will be filing a lawsuit against this company !
The good points: Right off the freeway and nearby restaurants. Clean rooms Bad Points: No restaurant due to renovations (Was supposed to be done in December 2025).. No coffee in the lobby for guests on Saturday, but was there on Friday??? - Was there for an event and after I checked out, I could not get coffee.. The A/C controls on the wall do not work. You have to use the controls on the a/c unit.
1st stay 4 stars. Had some issue but they could over come it. 2nd stay. DO NOT STAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! . If you want your car broken into this is the place. The coffee machine in room is broke and the housekeeper walked on me when checkout wasn't till the next day. I spoke with manager and she was nice but clueless as to how to remedy the situation. To top it all off the laundry facility is a mess and the dryer doesnt dry your clothes. I moved over to Hampton or should I say walked over to Hampton. As a platinum elite IHG member this is on the DO NOT STAY Sidenote: the renovations to the restaurant have been done for a while, they seem to have no desire to bring furniture in to foyer or restaurant and reopen it.
The hotel is right off the interstate with easy access to alot of amenities. I stayed at this property on 10/3/25 to 10/5/25. I was a bit disappointed and annoyed with the check-in process. I arrived around 4:30pm and the young lady checking me in flat out did not listen to me or follow proper protocol with ID verification. She asked for the last 4 of the card on my profile and I told her I wasn't sure what card was there and I didn't want to use it anyway as I held both my ID and Credit card I wanted to use. She said ok and proceeded to charge my card on file anyway while im still holding my cards. I ask her can I swipe now she asked did I want to use this for incidents and I said no... this is the card I want to pay with. And she then told me she charged my other card. She offered to reverse it but I was EXTREMELY annoyed and did not wish to have funds tied up on two cards so to keep the peace I just said dont worry about it. I also was not greeted as a platinum member. Also there is a VERY active railroad track behind the hotel. I was on the 5th floor and still heard trains passing all night long. If you are a light sleeper rooms on the odd numbers side might be better. There is construction going on in the lobby area but it wasn't disruptive. There's also only 1 elevator working at the time of my stay Other than the service issue at check in my room was very clean and the stay was friendly.
We stayed here traveling back from Florida and couldn’t be more pleased! I want to say a special Thankyou to Rochelle who was kind enough to make some coffee for me before we left even though it was 4 in the morning! Everyone we encountered was very friendly. The room was very clean and comfortable!
This place has potential, but there's some things you need to know: Room - initially it seemed comfortable, but I couldn't quite figure out the smell. Then it hit me: mold. And why? The AC unit leaks into the carpet. I tried to tell the front desk when I left, but no one was there. "The Bar" - as others have noted, there isn't one while they're renovating. You can buy food (which was actually pretty good) and alcohol, but you'll just be sitting at a table eating it, no TV and definitely no bar to belly up to. Highlight though, Erica was great to talk with while waiting for my food and she's very knowledgeable about the area. Breakfast - thankfully mine was free because that's what it's worth, not the $11 they charge. It's not much different than the free breakfast at a Holiday Inn express. Thankfully there were no issues with breakfast because the woman working it sat in the hall playing on her phone. Like I said, there's potential, but I don't believe the ownership understands how to run a hotel. There are some staff highlights, but mostly lowlights.
Pro: the gentleman that worked the front desk on 3/28 should been given a raise. The lobby was constantly full and he was alone. He even helped get us extra bedding for the pull out sofa since there was none in our room. He was very courteous when I spoke to him about the pool situation and told me he had dealt with that same question all day. He wasn’t at all rude but very calm and respectful through the whole conversation. Also beds are comfortable but the pull out sofa is not. Cons: Train tracks right behind our room and train moved all through the night. The reviews about room details are consistent. The lack of care and quality to the workmanship is to be seen. I’ve provided photos of towel racks hanging off the wall and shower tiles not properly installed. Even the light switches were dirty. The rooms were not left with enough towels. The worst part is no where on their website or reservation email does it mention the indoor pool is broken. When we arrived we could see through the window that it had no water. I even tried calling before making reservation on 3/26 and a girl put me on hold and after 5 minutes I hung up. It’s the only hotel with indoor pool and I know several others in lobby were disappointed to arrive and find that out. A note on their website would have been nice!!
Rooms are getting dated and in need of maintenance. Our AC unit was extremely loud. The toilet handle sticks, and there are ceiling panels in the closet lying on the shelf. The staff was very polite and the hotel was in a fantastic location. Beds were very comfortable
Terrible customer service and a horrible experience. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. We booked a room on the Holiday Inn website to attend funeral for family. We had a late flight so when we booked the room we added in the notes of the reservation that we would be arriving late after 1am. On our way to Georgia, our flight was delayed causing a delay getting to hotel. My sister-in-law attempted to call the hotel but no one answered. When we got to the hotel we were informed that our reservation was cancelled. We didn't get any warning or notification about the cancellation and when we asked who and how the reservation was cancelled we did not get a straight answer. We were also told that there were no more rooms available, so we had to scramble at 2am after a long day at the airport and a flight to find another room somewhere. The front desk called another holiday inn up the road after my sister found online that it had availability but they weren't able to hold that room for us even though it was another holiday inn and we had just gone through this mess. We went to that new holiday inn but they only had a single bed room, where we originally booked a 2 queen bed room, but only for that night. We then had to check out of that room and book another room for the next night. All of this cost more than our original reservation did.
We stopped here with our 2 sons on our way to Florida from Ohio on spring break. The location was great, with lots of food options close by. Upon checking in we were told the pool was undergoing renovations which was an immediate disappointment to my boys. I mentioned to the staff that it would have been nice for that update being added to their booking site so we could have booked elsewhere. The room was clean and the bed was okay. I’m not sure who they hire, but the lack of detail to the finishing work in the room is very noticeable. We planned to wake up & eat right when breakfast started at 6:30 and then get back on the road. When we arrived downstairs, the restaurant area was pitch black. Around 6:35am my husband noticed movement back in the kitchen & went to ask about when they might open since we were eager to eat the breakfast we had paid for before leaving. They guessed, “maybe 10 more minutes or so”? We didn’t feel confident in this, so we left & ate at the McDonald’s close by. Hopefully this helps paint the picture of the organization & overall expectations at this hotel.
