The Courtyard by Marriott Macon receives mixed reviews, highlighting both positive aspects like friendly staff and a convenient location, as well as significant concerns regarding cleanliness, maintenance, and value. Recent feedback indicates recurring issues with room conditions, including bed bugs, dirty bathrooms, and worn-down facilities, which contrasts with the expected quality of a Marriott property.
I have never stayed somewhere where the bedding smelled so bad and felt so unclean. The type of dirty where you can feel the layer of grime on you. The smell of pee and dirty previous people in this room mixed with an AC on its last leg makes the entire room suffocating. I have stayed at motels cleaner than this and felt safer too. Our door had trouble closing all the way. The tv is tiny too but I don’t mind that. I would advise to stay anywhere else.
This is an old hotel with the elevator at the back of the hotel. It is not an easy walk for the elderly There was no ice machine on the third floor, the ice machine on the Second floor and the first floor was not working. After complaining. I was told yea they are broke but I can get you some from the bistro. We bought ice. The third floor hallway was super warm. I mentioned that I was told yea it’s hot. Upon returning from buying ice, the tv would only get about 5 channels. Kept saying no signal. After turning it on and off, we turned the tv and it worked we had more channels. The toilet would flush after about three tries, only three towels for two people for 2 nights. My husband’s key stopped after the first night.they made a new key but wanted to know how long we were staying. We feel we spent way too much money for this type of a hotel. This is a Marriott for goodness sake. The people at the front desk don’t care. I would have checked out and moved to another hotel , but it was too much for us to move everything out, reload it and make it to a family function. We had stayed two previous Marriott properties in Auburn, AL and Tifton , Ga. Had not one complaint. By the way this hotel does have a nice shower head Very disappointed.
Disappointed with the stay and here is why. To start, find cockroach in the bathroom, too tired to bother about that and went ahead to take shower. Surprise, no hot water!!! This is couple of hours into my stay, I would have appreciated if the front-desk gave a heads-up. Finish my cold shower, tried to reach front-desk from room phone, three times, I can hear them, they can't hear me. Called from my mobile, front-desk acknowledges that there is a hot water issue and someone is working on it. Final straw, few minutes later, bigger roaches on my bed!!! They changed my room upon my request on a different floor. Good part, during check-in, check-out and the phone call, staff were very professional. They weren't surprised about the roaches though. Hot water was back in the morning.
I was in Macon visiting my parents and decided to stay the night. I have to say the employees are the reason I will stay there again. Everyone including the receptionist, the bartender, the cleaning staff were so welcoming, each having a big smile on their face. You could tell they enjoyed working there. The room was just as I expected from Marriott, comfortable and clean. It probably could use some sprucing up though. Great job you guys!! I will see you again.
A solid option in the Courtyard chain. I like the location: easy to get to from the interstate, and you can walk over to Outback or Carrabbas. The interior courtyard with a nice fire pit every evening is so pleasant. Lower level rooms facing the courtyard have sliding glass doors directly into it which is fabulous. The gym is small but has most things people use. A few smaller handweights would be a nice addition (nothing under 10 pounds). Rooms were clean and comfortable, parking is plentiful and rooms were really clean. One our recent 3 night stay the hotel was completely out of caffeinated coffee for the in room coffee makers and indicated this had been going on a while (though the manager on the third morning was surprised by this information). They were nice about giving a free coffee from the pay shop when we got dressed and went out for one to start the day. Also on this trip, the ice maker was always empty in the morning. Worked from about noon until at least 9 pm, but never had ice at 7. Reception staff were not rude, but also not at all warm or friendly. No "hi" or "welcome" at check in (and forget about noting Bonvoy status), no smile if you walked by entering the building, etc. It was a night and day difference compared with the staff at our hotel in Atlanta afterwards.
It’s an alright hotel. It’s older but not in terrible shape. It’s better than a 2 star but there is nicer 3 stars at the same prices. Hotel restaurant. No free breakfast / lobby coffee.
The location is good and the downstairs area is updated well. However, the room and elevator are ancient. The TVs don't have normal apps you see at most places. The stay was alright, but I'll probably look for another when I'm in the area again.
Woke up and found a bed bug on my pillow (based on a quick Google, it had recently fed - yeah). I panicked then bagged the thing and then panicked some more, then googled some more then took the bag to the front desk. They took the bug in the bag and came back and said "we can't take anything off your room." I had not asked for anything off, I wanted trash bags (to bag all of my things for the trip home where I now get to wash everything). There did not seem to be any surprise, no apology, and really no help (other than a few trash bags). Anyway, this hotel is off my list in Macon.
Some parts of the hotel were a little dirty, but overall it was fine. I'm giving it 3 stars just because I've never had a hotel decline to give me free water bottles, and also be out of toothbrushes. To me, those are just basics of being at a hotel. I was also told that they didn't have any of those water bottle refilling stations, and just a little water tank by the entrance. The location is fairly sad, if you like being away from everything, you'll enjoy it here, but otherwise it's pretty isolated. There's also not many street lamps outside so it's very dark on the roads nearby.
Stopped here overnight for some rest after a long roadtrip. Next time my husband and I will pick another hotel - between the musty smell in our room, the terrible food they serve out of their “bistro” (seriously, I can’t believe the money they charge for this frozen grocery store food), the paper thin walls so that I could hear EXACTLY what the man in the room next to me was shouting into his phone at 1am, and the smell of cigarettes that smacks you in the face as soon as you walk out of building - it was just not a pleasant stay. The beds were comfortable enough at the start of the night, but both my husband and I woke up with aching backs. The courtyard could also be maintained much better than it is.
