The Holiday Inn Express Macon-West generally receives positive feedback, particularly regarding friendly staff and a clean room. However, recurring concerns relate to inconsistent breakfast quality, bathroom cleanliness, and difficulty accessing rooms, especially for those with mobility issues. Recent reviews highlight issues with room occupation, billing discrepancies, and noise complaints.

Platinum Elite status, which means I've stayed in a hundred different Holiday Inns on business and vaction. This is the most friendly of them all. Little extras that we appreciated, like a bag of treats at check in and a door hanger with goodies and a bottle of water for the road. Staff was friendly and the rooms are spotlessly clean. Exceeded my expectations for a holiday inn express

I stayed less than 24hrs. Checking about 4pm and out by 9am. The AC unit is extremely loud and to hear the TV over it you will have to turn the volume up pretty high. The bed is firm which was a good thing for me but may not be others. The pillows are really flat and I had to stack two just to get some comfort. The toilet sits very on to the floor. You will be squatting low. The tub is low as well The bathroom could use some touch up. Especially with some paint. The breakfast look really basic. I didn’t eat it at all. there is plenty of muffins and pastries. The gym is really small they packed it with everything so there is limit space to actually stretch or do some free weights if more than two people are in there doing something other than cardio. The treadmill is old, belt is loose and it’s loud. I don’t think they had air conditioning in there since the door was propped open. In the room the toilet sits very slow to the ground. You will definitely be squatting to go to the bathroom. The tub is low as well and there could be some touch up paint needed. The shower pressure is really good. I wish there was a way for when the doors close it does not slam. You can hear people opening and closing their door and it disrupts my peace.

Checked in late while traveling home from vacation. Parked on the side of the building and went to go in but my room card didnt unlock the door. Parked near the front and came in that way. When we got up to our room on the third floor, the card didnt open the room either. I went back downstairs and the front desk attendant used a master key to let us in instead of providing a key that worked. Im thinking the cards were just not activated and another guest at the same issue. The breakfast was ok, but less options than some other Holiday Inns. The bed was a little stiffer than I had preferred. I was charged $29 in tourist and state fees and thought that was ridiculous. If we come back through here we will be picking another hotel.

Breakfast was completely unacceptable. On the first morning, the biscuit I took was half rock hard and half slimy. It couldn’t even be split to add toppings and went straight into the trash. Breakfast also opened late at 7:04 a.m., which caused delays when trying to get out the door for morning meetings. I ended up leaving to eat at a local restaurant. On the second morning, I watched the attendant pour sausage gravy directly from a can into the serving tray. The gravy was only room temperature, and the omelets were cold, not lukewarm, but refrigerator cold. Once again, the food was thrown away and I had to leave the hotel to eat elsewhere. I travel frequently, and this was one of the worst hotel breakfast experiences I’ve had. To be fair, the evening attendant on the night of arrival was extremely friendly and professional. Unfortunately, the morning front desk attendant on the first day was unpleasant when I needed help after forgetting my room key, showing zero friendliness. At checkout, two employees were arguing loudly in the front of the hotel, which was very unprofessional. Overall, both the breakfast quality and morning staff experience were well below expectations.

We had a great stay at Holiday Inn Express. Ashley at the front desk really stood out. She was friendly from the moment we walked in, upbeat, and genuinely helpful. She answered all of our questions, made check-in easy, and went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. Customer service like that makes a difference. We would absolutely stay here again.

Phone and tv did not work in first room, we were quickly changed to a new room. Front desk staff was cheery and professional. Loved the fresh-baked cookies and lemonade! The Club-included sodas and snack pack made us feel special!

Great experience: Breakfast: better than any hotel, trust me. Flexible: ask they will provide from front desk to fixing your room. GEN. MANAGER: ADRIAN OROZCO The most humble person you will find. YES, he is in this property assisting guest. I stayed 10 days could have gone to any other hotel. All the staff made me and my family feel at home. Thank you….

One of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. We arrived late after struggling to find a room anywhere, as many hotels were sold out. The moment we walked into this hotel, the lobby smelled strongly of body odor — it was overwhelming and immediately concerning. We were assigned Room 220. When my husband opened the door, someone was already inside the room. This is completely unacceptable and a serious safety issue. While going back downstairs, I spoke with another guest who told me the same thing had happened to her — someone was already in her assigned room as well. I told my husband I did not feel safe staying there. He went to take our luggage back to the car while I remained at the front desk to request confirmation that we would not be charged. The front desk employee told us a manager was needed, then said no manager was available. When I calmly asked for a receipt or written confirmation showing we would not be charged, she raised her voice, became defensive, and told me she was “trying to be professional” — which she clearly was not. My husband later spoke with a manager by phone who assured us our reservation was canceled and we would not be charged. Despite this, we checked our account the next morning and we were charged anyway. This hotel failed on cleanliness, guest safety, professionalism, and honesty. Assigning occupied rooms, allowing multiple guests to experience the same issue, and then charging us after promising not to is unacceptable. I would strongly advise others to stay elsewhere.

This review is more reflective of IHG corporate policies than this specific hotel. We were driving through Georgia with our young children and needed to stop for the night. It was 12:15 am local time when we arrived. We searched several hotels in the area. The website said the room at this location was $148. We did not book online as we were close by. So we pulled in and booked directly with the clerk. We were charged $191 and told that booking in the lobby costs more than if you were to book online. 1. That should be stated on their website. 2. This makes very poor business sense given rooms were available and needed to be filled. The desk clerks were as helpful as they could be, but obviously bound by corporate policy. Ultimately, the clerk was able to reduce the rate. In the future, we will stick with Hilton hotels.

Room was clean and spacious. Since I needed to be on my way early the next morning, my only complaint was noise from a small party in the parking lot that went late and from a large family group who must have had several rooms across from mine. The family gathered in the hall around 10 pm for about 15 minutes of loud visiting. When I checked out, I was told that there had been at least one large group for a wedding which probably explains both sources of noise. I did like the location.
