The 1842 Inn consistently receives rave reviews for its exceptional hospitality, charming historic setting, and delicious breakfasts. Guests praise the attentive staff, comfortable rooms, and convenient location, particularly for exploring Macon and enjoying local events. While some recent reviews mention potential issues with event interference, the overall experience is overwhelmingly positive.
What an absolutely fantastic hotel, I cannot begin to tell you how accommodating the staff was. The kitchen manager actually made my breakfast early and brought it to my room. When I arrived a young lady Sarah took my things to my room. During happy hour the young lady from the front desk poured my wine. They give you complimentary hors d'oeuvres which were very good and then if you choose to have alcohol that's placed on your room bill. The room was clean the bed was comfortable even the pillows. The e Inn is supposed to be haunted, I would say something woke me up in the middle of the night can't really say it was a spooky but who knows. Highly highly recommend this hotel if you're in Macon or driving through. It is also situated within walking distance of restaurants.
Incredible! 10/10 perfect stay. Everyone on staff was so welcoming, friendly and kind. The room was delightful and the parlor area was super cool. Hors d’oeuvres were served in the evening along with drinks and in the morning there was a DELICIOUS breakfast. I literally couldn’t say a single bad thing about this place. Perfect from check in to check out!
We booked a package trip for my husband's birthday to see the Allman Brothers tours and memorabilia. 1842 Inn was a marvelous place to stay, central to downtown, beautiful surroundings, and lovely rooms. The entire team was exceptionally kind, efficient, and knowledgeable. When LaKecia discovered it was a birthday celebration, we were surprised with a beautiful breakfast, gifts, and a special birthday balloon. The breakfast options included a Continental or a hot breakfast. The home and grounds are quite pretty and peaceful. We enjoyed our breakfast on the deck just outside our room. In the evenings, we were treated to a selection of treats and drinks to enjoy on the front veranda or in one of the many parlors. The staff really went above our expectations. We not only felt welcomed, we felt cherished.
We did not stay here. I stumbled into this historical bed and breakfast by accident and definitely will stay here next time in Macon. The house was built in 1842,where it's name coming form. It was turned into a bed and breakfast 1985. The best, it has two Tesla charging station (40 mile per hr type). Electric car owners, you can feel rest assured staying nights here without spending time charging your car somewhere else during the day.
What a wonderful place to stay! The hospitality of the staff is top notch, the breakfast is amazing, and the rooms and facilities super clean. It has been a long time since I felt like home in a hotel. 10 stars!
Beautiful house, room was nice with period furnishings and a nice mattress. Our experience wasn't great overall though. We came the week before Christmas, and they were hosting a group event. The narrow side street check in was blocked by people unloading to set up the event, we circled a few times and called, and instead of asking the people to pull out and let us unload they told us to park in the parking lot and just carry our luggage farther. We entered to the hip hop music the group was playing, and they took up the whole first floor. We never got to sit and have a drink or see the house. To top it off, after having their breakfast in our room the next morning and leaving for Savannah I had to pull over at a gas station violently ill with food poisoning. I'm sure it could be a nice place to stay, it just didn't work out for us. Between not being warned about the event and the seeming indifference to it affecting us, I would not visit again.
The Master wedding at the 1842 Inn felt like stepping straight into a Secret Garden. The bride dreamed of an elegant, hidden-garden celebration, and this venue absolutely delivered. From hors d’oeuvres on the wraparound porch to a beautifully styled tent in the back for dancing, every detail was executed with stunning precision. The elegance of the evening truly felt like something out of a movie—especially the grand entrance, which was unforgettable. For Middle Georgia brides looking for a historic, storybook venue with exceptional service and Southern charm, the 1842 Inn is a standout.
Beautifully restored Inn and the staff is extremely helpful and attentive. I especially liked Chef Lakecia's breakfast casserole. She accommodated my early schedule and gave me a special table right by the Christmas tree. This was so thoughtful.
My friend and I enjoyed our stay at the 1842 inn. We had mint juleps and complimentary hors d'oeuvres on the veranda. Our room came with robes and slippers and our beds were some of the softest I’ve ever slept on! Before we left we had tea on the veranda. All the employees were so nice and helpful! If we are ever in Macon, Ga we will be happy to stay again!
I recently stayed at the inn to work a wedding. I am a hair and makeup artists and the bridal party stayed at the inn and I got them all ready there. The staff were exceptional! Everyone was so kind, offered and helped me with my heavy equipment. Constantly made sure everyone was taken care of. The rooms were clean and well kept. Highly recommend!
